Williamsport, Pa. — Local healthcare systems and hospitals faced disruptions due to the global technology outage today.

According to a release from UPMC, emergency services and appointments are proceeding as scheduled and emphasizing that patient care "has not been affected" and their facilities were operational. WellSpan Health also reported sporadic IT disruptions, but maintained that patient services were unaffected, according to PennLive .

Earlier this morning, Mount Nittany Medical Center announced they were "experiencing significant disruptions" across their entire health system and had "limited access to patient contact information" in a news release.

The system stated that all non-emergent appointments, including surgeries at Mount Nittany Medical Center and Mount Nittany Health/Mount Nittany Physician Group locations would be canceled for the day.

The outage has been linked to CrowdStrike, a cybersecurity firm, whose software update for Microsoft Windows systems reportedly caused widespread disruptions.
