Davidson Township, Pa. — A child confessed to smoking marijuana he found inside a tool box in the basement of his father’s home.

Duane Lewis White, 42, of Williamsport blamed construction workers for leaving the substance at the home on Route 42 in Davidson Township, Trooper Ryan Joyce said. When told of charges being filed, White allegedly became irate and left the State Police Barracks in LaPorte.

The minor was interviewed by troopers at the LaPorte barracks after the incident, which occurred in the middle of June, according to the complaint. The child claimed to have found the baggie of marijuana two weeks prior to smoking it, Joyce wrote. The minor retrieved it later and took a video of himself with the marijuana, Joyce added. Investigators describe the bag and contents as a “large personal amount” in their report.

When asked how he ingested the substance, the minor claimed to have rolled it up in sheet paper. He allegedly put the marijuana back in the tool box after smoking.

White claimed to know about the accusations during an interview with police. He initially denied knowing where his son would have got the substance, Joyce said. When told by police that the marijuana was found in a tool box at his home, White said it belonged to people doing construction work on his home. He claimed to let the men smoke it in his basement, according to Joyce.

White asked for a lawyer before leaving after being told of the charges. White is being charged with endangering the welfare of children and corruption of minors. He is scheduled to appear before Judge Jennifer Vandine in August.
