    Six teens charged in Williamston murder

    Six teens are in the Pitt Regional Juvenile Detention Center charged with murder.

    The arrests stem from an incident on July 4 at 201 Peaks St. in Williamston.

    Williamston Police Det. Lt. Gene Bullock said those arrested include a 17-year-old, three 16-year-olds, a 15-year-old and a 14-year-old. All of those arrested are males.

    The incident took place around 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 4 when officers were dispatched to the Peaks Street location on reports of a person being shot. When they arrived, they found a 15-year-old male deceased at the scene.

    The Williamston Police Department began investigating the incident and sought assistance from the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation.

    Lt. Bullock said that investigation led to the charges.

    None of the names have been released due to the victim and suspects all being under 18 years of age.
