Six teens are in the Pitt Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Greenville and facing charges in connection to a murder that occurred Thursday in Williamston.

Lt. Gene Bullock, a detective with the Williamston Police Department, said those arrested include a 17-year-old, three 16-year-olds, a 15-year-old and a 14-year-old. The six teens charged in the murder case are all males.

The incident took place around 1 p.m. Officers were dispatched in response to reports of a person being shot. When they arrived, they found a 15-year-old male deceased at the scene, police said.

Williamston police launched an investigation into the shooting incident and sought assistance from the State Bureau of Investigation.

Bullock said that investigation led to the charges of the six teens.

Because the suspects and the victim are under 18 years of age, none of their names have been released.
