A traffic stop in Williamston took five kilos of cocaine off the streets.

Williamston Police Lt. Det. Gene Bullock said the incident occurred on Saturday, July 6.

The vehicle was stopped on U.S. 17 in Williamston and a K9 from the Martin County Sheriff’s Office was deployed and “positively alerted” on the car, according to the press release from the WPD.

A search followed and five kilograms of cocaine was reportedly found concealed inside the vehicle.

The Williamston Police Department reached out to the Greenville Regional Drug Task Force and Agents with the DEA in Raleigh to assist with the investigation.

Two men, both of Mexico, were charged in the incident.

Luis Gerardo Orozco Bordas, 28, was charged with trafficking in cocaine by possession, trafficking in cocaine by transportation and conspiracy to traffic cocaine.

Alfonzo Orozco Ramirez, 32, was charged with the same charges.

Each was taken before a magistrate and then confined to the Bertie-Martin Regional Jail in lieu of a $1.5 million secured bond.
