WILLIAMSTON, S.C. (WSPA) – Several families chose to spend their day celebrating the Fourth of July with games, food and, later, fireworks.

From food to music, games and local vendors, families said they’re having a great time.

“It’s great. I definitely will be coming back, not just for the events, but to pick lavender and see what’s going on,” said Hannah Searcy.

Searcy said Thursday was her first time at Twin Creeks Lavender Farm. She’s using the day off to spend time with friends and remember the meaning behind the holiday.

“I’m definitely grateful for the country that I live in and I actually work with a company that works closely with the military so I get to see a lot of the things that I’m grateful for,” said Searcy.

Other families said they’re also grateful to be able to celebrate.

“It’s about people getting together experiencing the wonderful world that we have and get to enjoy our independence and celebrate freedom,” said Quincy Richter.

For some, the Fourth of July is about making memories with those closest to you.

“I think one of my favorite memories is sitting on the roof of our house with my brother and just watching all the fireworks and eating ice cream and it’s just like, it’s just a good time to celebrate and have fun together,” said Searcy.

Others are using this time to relax and be in the moment.

“Being able to relax, really re-centering in with why we’re here and our purpose and how we continue to use our freedom in the ways that we can,” said Richter.

Twin Lakes Lavender Farm will be opened throughout the weekend from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
