Task force seeks to engage the Oconee public
An Oconee task force dedicated to combatting the opioid epidemic locally invites the general public this week for a discussion of how better to do its work. The task force has money to spend and Jon Holland, one of its members, says this week’s public forum is to discuss community needs as part of what’s called a gap analysis. Dabo Swinney’s son Will joins Clemson’s coaching staff
Clemson’s coaching staff has welcomed a new member: former wide receiver Will Swinney. He’s joining his father, Dabo Swinney, as a volunteer offensive intern. Will’s younger brother, Drew, has been with the team since last year, adding to the Swinney presence on the coaching staff. Will Swinney played for Clemson from 2017 to 2021, where he made 35 receptions and scored one touchdown. He was also a standout in the classroom, earning ACC Honor Roll honors five times. After his playing career, Will spent two years as a color analyst on the Clemson Sports Network, contributing to the coverage of Clemson football. He was part of the 2018 National Championship team that went undefeated. Now, as he steps into this coaching role, Will is bringing his experience and family legacy to the Tigers’ staff.

Recreation facilities enhanced at a community center
Seneca’s Blue Ridge Community Center now has six basketball goals on its newly constructed courts, and the thanks goes to a group of employees at the local BASF plant. Over two days last month, 14 volunteers from the BASF Veterans Employee team committed 60 hours to bring the project to life. The main installation took place June 14 with the installation of MegaSlam72, Mega Slam60, and FX 60 basketball goals. The project attracted attention in the community, as residents stopped by to watch the process. The timing coincided with Juneteenth celebrations and underscored a commitment by BASF Environmental Catalyst and Metal Solutions to create opportunities and enhancing facilities in underserved communities.
