First Fresh Cut Film Festival a success
SPRINGFIELD, Vt. – Springfield’s first film festival was a huge success, selling out the theater to show five short films by local filmmakers: “The Journey home” by Mark Stanley, “BIAVT Walk and Roll” by the late Chris Burge, “Dual” by the Flugge family of HotBrick Lighting and Grip, “The Sins of Salem” by Brad Courtmanche, and “This Crowded Room” by Rafael Burgos Nieves.

NEW ORLEANS - The University of Vermont men's and women's track and field program has been honored as an All-Academic Team by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The Catamounts women's team posted a GPA of 3.629 while the men's team posted a GPA of 3.343 to earn the honors.

Fred Parsells, a guest on today’s Good Morning with Dan Mitchell show on WKBK, is proud of his “adopted” hometown where he’s lived here for 51 years and raised his family. He worked for many years in Keene as a police officer and he was also a city councilor.
Mosquitoes carrying West Nile virus detected in Worcester
The first detection of West Nile virus in Massachusetts was made earlier this month. West Nile virus has been detected in mosquitoes in Worcester, officials said Tuesday. The Central Massachusetts Mosquito Control Project said mosquitoes carrying the virus were detected in the city’s Grove Street section on Tuesday. A pesticide will be sprayed by a mounted-truck in the area of Rural Cemetery after sunset on Thursday, the group said.

There are severe delays on the MBTA Red Line after a person was struck and killed by a train at Boston's South Station on Wednesday, according to T officials.
