WILLISTON, ND ( KXNET ) — The Williston Fire Department was called to the Williston Basin International Airport on the afternoon of Sunday, July 21, after an aircraft experienced problems landing.

According to the fire department, around 1:28 p.m., a single-engine recreational aircraft had trouble with its landing gear while touching down at the airport. This incident occurred during normal landing procedures and was not declared as an emergency beforehand. Both the fire department and airport operations staff immediately responded and provided emergency response services.

Williston Airport’s primary runway was temporarily closed while the aircraft was removed. The secondary runway remained open during the incident, and all airport operations were fully restored by 2:30 p.m. There was no fire related to the incident.

Two Canadian citizens — a male and a female — were in the aircraft and both were able to safely evacuate the plane. While the woman was evaluated and treated on the scene for minor injuries by EMS crews, neither occupant was transported to the hospital.
