Chicken spill ruffles feathers in West Columbia
LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WACH) — SCDOT is asking the public to avoid US 378 near Meeting Street and State Street in West Columbia after a truck spilled raw chicken meat across the road. Crews are assisting with the cleanup but drivers can expect traffic delays as cleanup efforts continue.
City of North Charleston Appoints New Artist-in-Residence
The City of North Charleston Cultural Arts Department is proud to announce the appointment of Shayn Green as Artist-in-Residence (AIR) for its Pilot Residency Program running August-October 2024. The City’s AIR serves as a visual art ambassador for the North Charleston community. Along with creating new work in the 270 sq. ft. AIR Studio located within the Park Circle Community Building, Shayn will collaborate with the City’s Cultural Arts Department to offer opportunities for artistic engagement for North Charleston citizens during her residency period.
SJC Ventures Completes Phase II of West Ashley Station Shopping Center in Charleston
Charleston, S.C. —SJC Ventures, with general contractor Hill Construction, has completed the development of Phase II of West Ashley Station, a shopping center located in Charleston’s West Ashley neighborhood. Totaling 29,000 square feet, the second phase is fully leased to tenants including Hollywood Feed, Hand & Stone, Another Broken Egg, Pacific Dental, GoodVets, Jersey Mike’s Subs, Nothing Bundt Cakes, CAVA, Nikita Hair Salon, House of Sage and Serotonin Centers. All tenants are scheduled to be open by February 2025. John Orr and Lindsey Halter of Carolina Retail Experts marketed West Ashley Station for lease. Phase I of the property includes a 45,062-square-foot Whole Foods Market that opened in 2018.

Decorated retired SC Major General laid to rest at Fort Jackson National Cemetery
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - A retired U.S. Army Reserve Major General from South Carolina was laid to rest on Wednesday. Major General (R) George W. Goldsmith, Jr. passed away on Tuesday at the age of 95. Goldsmith was a decorated member of the military and served as Chairman of the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce’s Military Affairs Committee.
