Summer’s busy for Chester Housing Authority
Having recently completed its Strategic Plan, a process the Chester Housing Authority (CHA) goes through with its Resident Advisory Board and executive staff every five years, this summer is a busy time. The Plan is also addressed annually and modified as seen fit. Major capital projects are scheduled for the Ruth L. Bennett and William Penn Homes and Wellington Ridge. Approximately $8 million worth of improvements will bring units of housing back on line at the Bennett, replacement roofing at the Penn and rear decks at Wellington.

The scene was part of “Trauma Dreams,” one of three winning entries submitted by members from Youth Empowerment for Advancement Hangout (YEAHPhilly) in a youth pitch competition hosted Monday at REC Philly. “Guns Change the Story” was sponsored by both YEAHPhilly, a Philadelphia-based nonprofit supporting youth affected by violence, and Project Unloaded, an anti-gun advocacy group. The competition sought short video pitches for a social media campaign aimed at reaching young people and educating them on the impact of gun violence.
