Former Indiana star Eric Gordon agrees to deal with 76ers, his 17th NBA season
Former IU basketball star and Indiana Mr. Basketball Eric Gordon's NBA career will extend to 17 seasons. According to multiple reports on Sunday, Gordon has agreed to a one-year contract with the Philadelphia 76ers for the 2024-25 season. Gordon's deal is expected to be for the veteran's minimum, which is estimated to be around $3.3 million for players with 10+ years of service.

Board of Works denies request for Fourth of July fireworks in city park
The Board of Works and Public Safety denied a request from a group of residents Tuesday morning to set off a large amount of fireworks at Clearwick Park on July 4. Souls Harbor Church gets rezone approved to move to new building
Souls Harbor Church cleared the final hurdle to move into a new building. The church, located at 105 N. Vine Street in Shelbyville, is purchasing the former Family Services and Prevention Programs building at 2021 S. Riley Highway. To bring its daycare facility to the new building, the property had to be rezoned from R1 (Residential) to IS (Institutional).

A place of hope: Second Safe Haven Baby Box installed in Westfield
First passed in 2000, the Indiana Safe Haven Law allows a person to surrender their infant anonymously without fear of arrest or prosecution. In 2017, Indiana expanded the Safe Haven Law to allow for baby boxes at hospitals, and in 2018 those locations were expanded to include fire stations with available 24/7 emergency medical services.

With less than three weeks to prepare for the National United USA Pageant, Noblesville resident Jessica Hopper never imagined she would take home the title. So, Hopper, 31, was stunned when she was crowned Mrs. United USA 2024 at the event held June 10 to 14 in Daytona Beach, Fla. She was also named the interview, swimsuit and runway winner and voted as the national Miss Congeniality. She will represent the U.S. at the international pageant next year.
