The Willow Springs Arts Council is hosting its annual ‘Kids Art Camp’ Tuesday, July 9 through Thursday, July 11 and Tuesday, July 16 through Thursday, July 18.

The first event allows children who have completed first through fifth grades the opportunity to learn art concepts and techniques. Long time art instructor, Ginny Thomason will be conducting these classes and will be doing a different project each day including a watercolor painting, a collage and an acrylic painting. Thomason has taught several classes for the Arts Council and strives to share her love of painting with her students. She loves to see students enjoy expressing themselves artistically and experimenting with different mediums. She is also a pet portrait artist who works mainly in watercolor and pencil.

The following week, July 16-18, classes will be held for those who have completed sixth through 12th grades. Whitney Smith will be conducting a step-by-step acrylic painting class on July 16. Smith is an art teacher and has a fine arts degree. Then, retired high school art teacher Ron McGarry will offer a painting class with oil pastels and a sculpture project on the last two days of this session.

Each session will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on the second floor of the Ferguson Building in Willow Springs. Classes are $5 per session per student. All supplies and snacks are included.

Students must be registered before class begins. Registration can be made from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Ferguson Building front desk. It will be closed on July 4-5. For more information contact Rebecca Cash at 417-962-0979. Visit www.willowspringsartscouncil.org .
