    Delaware Park postpones Saturday drone show after FAA closes airspace for 'VIP'

    A drone show scheduled at Delaware Park Casino on Saturday, July 6, has been canceled because of flight restrictions over the weekend in north Delaware.

    "Due to FAA restrictions communicated on July 4th, the drone show at Delaware Park Casino near Wilmington, scheduled for Saturday, July 6, unfortunately, has been postponed," wrote a spokesperson for Delaware Park Casino. "The new date for the drone show is now Saturday, July 20th.

    The sudden VIP visit was communicated by the Federal Aviation Administration at 2:57 p.m . on July 4, grounding all aircraft between the evenings of Friday, July 5, and Sunday, July 7.

    The restrictions are standard protocol when President Joe Biden flies into the Wilmington Airport and is at his Greenville home.

    President Biden and the first lady were hosting a barbecue Thursday night with military service members and their families on the south lawn of the White House, according to the White House.

    The White House has not yet announced his travel plans for the weekend.

    Between 5:45 p.m. Friday and 1:30 p.m. Sunday and between 3:45 p.m. Sunday to 11:30 a.m. Monday all aircraft operations are prohibited except for "approved law enforcement, military aircraft supporting the United States Secret Service and the Office of the President of the United States," according to the FAA.

    The drone show had been scheduled as part of a "Delaware Handicap Festival of Racing," on July 6 and 7 at the casino and racetrack. Minus the drone show, all other activities will continue as scheduled at Delaware Park.
