An 89-year-old man killed in a three-vehicle crash Monday afternoon in Brandywine Hundred has been identified by Delaware State Police as Grover Brown of the Wilmington area.

Brown was driving a 2008 Toyota Camry east in the 1000 block of Wilson Road about 3:50 p.m. when police said he failed to remain on the road and entered the right shoulder, where his car hit a mailbox.

He swerved back onto the roadway, crossing the solid double-yellow line and into the path of a westbound 2011 Mercedes S550.

The two cars crashed, sending the Mercedes rotating until it hit an occupied 2002 Buick LeSabre parked on the shoulder.

Brown was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Mercedes driver, a 62-year-old Wilmington-area man, was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The Buick's occupant, a 65-year-old Wilmington-area woman, was not injured.

Police continue to investigate this crash and ask that witnesses contact investigators at (302) 365-8483. Information may also be provided by sending a private Facebook message to the Delaware State Police or contacting Delaware Crime Stoppers at (800) 847-3333.
