A 34-year-old man who escaped from Delaware Department of Correction custody almost six years ago was returned to the First State on Thursday from Massachusetts, according to the Department of Correction.

The department said Andre Wright climbed over the perimeter fence at the Plummer Community Corrections Center in Wilmington on Aug. 12, 2018.

The center is a Level 4 facility where the Department of Correction houses offenders who are transitioning back into the community. Offenders in these centers are permitted to leave the facility to go to work, seek jobs or attend approved treatment sessions.

Wright, who was incarcerated on a charge of second-degree burglary, was returned to Delaware by the U.S. Marshals Service.
