Woman Shot By Ex-Boyfriend As She Sat On Her Porch in Joliet Saturday Morning
On July 13, 2024, at 9:44 a.m., Joliet Police Officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of South Joliet Street for a report of a female that had been shot. Upon arrival, Officers located a 39-year-old female who had sustained a gunshot wound to her left leg. The victim received medical attention at the scene by Joliet Fire Department paramedics who then transported her to Ascension St Joseph Medical Center. The injury was determined to be non-life threatening.

Forecasters are keeping their eyes to the skies as another round of severe storms are predicted to impact the Joliet area once again. The National Weather Service has placed the entire WJOL listening area in the Moderate (Level 4/5) risk, with all modes of wind, hail and tornadoes possible. Make sure you have multiple ways to receive warnings, as forecasters are expecting the storms to start entering our area sometime after 7:00pm.

Parts of northern Illinois shook Monday as a 3.4 magnitude earthquake struck in the early morning hours. The earthquake was centered northwest of the DeKalb County village of Somonauk. According to the United States Geological Survey, the trembler had an estimated depth of about 6 miles. The earthquake could be felt as far as Joliet.
67 Chargers Earn Academic All-Region 4 for Spring Semester
Sixty-seven Sandburg student-athletes earned Academic All-NJCAA Region 4 honors for the 2024 spring semester. Honorees had to achieve at least a 3.0 grade point average and pass a minimum of 12 credit hours to earn the distinction. Among Sandburg’s recipients, 44 had a GPA of 3.50 or better. Nineteen Chargers had a perfect 4.0 GPA, and each Sandburg team was represented within that group of student-athletes with an unblemished GPA.
