A lucky man in North Carolina won his second major lottery prize in as many years and now plans to use his win to give back to his community.

"I was told lightning can't strike twice but I guess it can," said Wilmington resident John Robbins .

Robbins previously won a $2 million prize in the Ultimate 7's game in May 2022, purchasing his winning ticket from the Han-Dee Hugo's on North College Road, according to a release from the NC Education Lottery . He recently returned to the store and picked up another ticket, this time a $30 purchase in the Black Titanium scratch-off game. Luck was on his side once again and he won one of the game's $100,000 prizes.

"I was definitely excited because I have some dreams I want to work on," he said.

Robbins claimed his prize at lottery headquarters on Monday (June 3), taking home an impressive $71,509 after all required state and federal tax withholdings. According to lottery officials, he hopes to use his second lottery win to give back to his community, which has been a passion of his for a while.

" My dream is to make a difference in Wilmington," he said. "I want to give back to people here who are less fortunate. I want to do something to help change that."

Following Robbins' win, the Black Titanium games has several prizes that remain to be claimed: three $4 million and five $100,000.
