    Wilmington furniture store to close amid company-wide shutdown

    The companywide closure of a furniture store will result in the closure of its one Wilmington location.

    Badcock Home Furniture & More, located at 6737 Market Street, will be closing. Stores across all eight states where the company currently operates will also be closing, according to a comment posted by the Badcock Home Furniture & More Facebook page.

    The furniture company currently operates at least 380 locations across North Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Florida, Mississippi, and Alabama, according to the company webpage .

    In December 2023, Conn's Inc. "consummated a transaction" that resulted in "W.S. Badcock LLC ... becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of the company," according to a prior news release. Conn's Inc. As of Friday afternoon, banners indicating a "going out of business sale" list a 30-50% "everything-must-go" discount across the Conn's Home Plus company webpage .

    Other North Carolina store locations to be affected by the Badcock store closures include:

    • 1241 Dabney Drive, Henderson.
    • 220 West Kings Highway Suite D, Eden.
    • 6021 South Blvd., Charlotte.
    • 800 Fairview Road Suite B1, Asheville.
    • 4150 West Vernon Ave., Kinston.
    • 1558 Julian R. Allsbrook Highway Suite 5A, Roanoke Rapids.
    • 101 Siler Crossings, Siler City.

    As of Friday afternoon, the phone number for the Wilmington location remained active and Google listed the business as open. The specific timeline for the closure of the Wilmington location remains uncertain.
