West Rutland’s Lavictoire Posts Fourth Career Win at Phoenix Bass Fishing League Event at Lake Champlain
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (Aug. 19, 2024) – Boater Thomas Lavictoire Jr. of West Rutland, Vermont, caught a five-bass limit weighing 22 pounds, 3 ounces, Saturday to win the MLF Phoenix Bass Fishing League (BFL) Presented by T-H Marine on Lake Champlain . Hosted by the City of Plattsburgh and Adirondack Coast Visitors Bureau, the tournament was the third event of the season for the BFL Northeast Division. Lavictoire earned $3,377 for his victory.

New video shows underwater crash site of long-lost jet

The local business owners' goal to purchase and remove the aged IGA building on Main Street here won $1,337,296 in Empire State Development funding. The state announced 43 winning projects at the end of July, and Willsboro made the cut.
ADK Fdn. grant heightens awareness of Native American influences
SCHROON | The Schroon-North Hudson Historical Society was recently awarded a $2,000 grant from the Community Fund for the Gore Mountain Region at Adirondack Foundation to support "Native American Summer Journey for a School Age Children" program in 2025. Through this program, children will appreciate the influences Northeastern Native American culture has had on our shared community. The program will be a totally hands-on experience as students rotate through a virtual museum of storytelling, craft-making, Native American game-playing, and realistic Native American government role-playing. Essentially, children will be taking a field trip without leaving town.
