Akron Children’s pairs sunscreen with scoliosis education at Edgewater this weekend
CLEVELAND, Ohio — If you feel like hitting the beach this weekend with the kids and want a free scoliosis screening, this is the weekend to do it. Akron Children’s Hospital will be at Edgewater Park on Sunday, launching SpineScreen, an initiative to protect kids from the sun and screens for scoliosis simultaneously. Along with a free scoliosis screening from an Akron Children’s provider, the hospital system will give away beach towels and bottles of sunscreen with spine screening tips.
Police charge Cleveland man who allegedly drove through red light, causing deadly accident
CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - A 27-year-old Cleveland man is now facing criminal charges for allegedly causing a deadly accident on the city’s East side this past weekend. Cleveland police said Gerrod White was speeding eastbound on St. Clair Avenue when he ran a red light at East 110th Street around 5:30 a.m. on July 21.

An Akron teenager is accused in the fatal shooting of 47-year-old Patrick Boegert of Barberton in February on the 1300 block of South Arlington Street. Massive Ohio Company Announces Job Relocation to Costa Rica
Nearly 200 jobs have been lost by hardworking Americans as a result of a large Ohio company’s decision to relocate jobs overseas. One hundred seventy-five employees will be leaving Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. for a new Costa Rica in Akron, the business announced on Friday. While Goodyear did acknowledge to the Beacon Journal that layoffs will occur at its Akron headquarters, the company chose not to disclose how many employees will be impacted.

STARK COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - A Cleveland Clinic doctor used his life-saving skills to save a co-worker choking in the hospital cafeteria.
