The Wilson Housing Authority is opening the waiting lists for all units in its three public housing communities.

Interested individuals can begin picking up public housing applications for the units on Monday, June 24. The housing authority will start accepting completed applications on Tuesday, June 25.

The housing authority has three public housing communities — Whitfield Homes, Forrest Road Homes and E.B. Jordan Homes — and people can apply for all three communities on the same application. All three communities have one-, two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom units. Households are assigned to a bedroom size based on the number of people in their household, their ages and other applicable factors.

To qualify for any of these units, applicants must meet federal income eligibility guidelines and other federal eligibility regulations, according to a news release from WHA. Applicants will also need to provide copies of a photo identification card for any household member 18 and older and a Social Security card and a birth certificate for all household members.

Applications will be considered in the order in which they are returned. Applications received from veterans will receive preference in where they are placed on the waiting list. Households currently experiencing homelessness and victims of domestic violence who are currently in a shelter will also receive preference if the application is accompanied by a signed preference letter. Families with members who are employed and meet certain income guidelines can also receive preference.

The housing authority will only accept and consider complete applications that include all required documentation.

Starting June 24, the public housing application and preference letter can be picked up from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays at the WHA administrative office, 301 Nash St. E.; Forrest Road Homes office, 502 Parkview St.; Whitfield Homes office, 633 E. Walnut St.; and E.B. Jordan Homes office: 1800-H Fountain Drive.

A PDF of the public housing application and preference letter will also be available on the Wilson Housing Authority’s website, www.wilsonha.org , for printing starting June 24.

Completed applications will not be accepted before June 25.

Starting June 25, completed public housing applications will be accepted on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Forrest Road Homes, Whitfield Homes and E.B. Jordan Homes offices.

Completed applications can also be mailed to any of the three offices. All the offices are in Wilson, and the ZIP code is 27893.
