North State Consulting CEO Bill O’Boyle is extending the company’s reach to tackle cybersecurity after acquiring Indiana-based FB Security Group.

“North State Consulting already does sales generation for software companies,” O’Boyle said. “The natural progression would be the full process. Cybersecurity is such a threat to businesses of all sizes. We can offer really completive solutions.”

O’Boyle said North State Cyber Solutions, the new security firm, will be headquartered in the North State building in downtown Wilson. Along with retaining experienced North State employees, he’s also looking to hire employees with cybersecurity experience.

“We’re looking for the same type of employees that North State has always hired,” O’Boyle said. “We’re looking for folks who are client-first and work hard.”

Over the next two years, O’Boyle said, he hopes to assemble a staff of 20 cybersecurity-dedicated employees.

“It is a totally separate business,” O’Boyle said. “But it’s utilizing our brand and bringing in a lot of the experience from FB Security.”

FB Security previously maintained 500 clients in its 18-year history and specialized in meeting cybersecurity needs for small and mid-sized businesses.

“FB Security Group has an outstanding reputation for protecting small and mid-sized businesses and providing world-class customer service,” O’Boyle said in a press release. “We are excited for this natural expansion of our business and to continue creating tech jobs in eastern North Carolina.”

O’Boyle said bringing high-quality jobs to Wilson is important to him.

“People continue to underestimate Wilson’s technology workforces,” O’Boyle said. “It’s continued to work out. I’ve always enjoyed creating tech opportunities for people in Wilson. I’m excited to offer something with more advanced skill sets.”
