Boykin Series 27 celebrates diverse musical talents

Wilson Arts’ Boykin Series 27 features a variety of musical performances that promise to captivate and entertain audiences.
This season showcases a diverse array of genres, from traditional country and classic rock to Gullah music and folk rock.

All performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Edna Boykin Cultural Center at 108 Nash St. NE in Wilson.
Season tickets for Boykin Series 27 are on sale now. Purchasing before Friday, Aug. 2, guarantees “same seat” preferred seating for all new performances. Previous season ticket holders will have the first opportunity to keep their legacy seats if they purchase by this deadline.
Season ticket pricing will remain available until Sept. 19. Individual tickets for Boykin Series 27 shows will be available for sale starting Aug. 2.
Cost for the entire new series is $276. For fall shows only, the cost is $142. For spring shows only, the cost is $134. Sales tax will be added to all ticket purchases.

Twitty and Lynn: A Salute to Conway and Loretta (Traditional County, Tribute)
The Sept. 19 concert features Tre Twitty and Tayla Lynn, grandchildren of Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn, respectively, performing a heartfelt country music tribute show that celebrates their grandparents’ legacy without resorting to impersonation. Tickets are $65 for adults and $60 for seniors and students.
THE PETTY THIEVES (CLASSIC ROCK, TOM PETTY TRIBUTE)
On Oct. 3, Experience the energy of a Tom Petty tribute band, bringing classic rock hits from the ’60s to today to life. Tickets are $25 for everyone.
RANKY TANKY (GULLAH MUSIC, JAZZ, ROOTS MUSIC)
On Nov. 8, hear the Grammy Award-winning quintet from Charleston, South Carolina. Ranky Tanky delves into timeless music rooted in the Gullah culture of the southeastern Sea Islands. The group’s debut album gained recognition on NPR’s “Fresh Air with Terry Gross” and “The Today Show,” topping the Billboard, Amazon and iTunes Jazz Charts. Tickets are $40 for adults and $35 for seniors and students.
Get in the Christmas spirit with this musical show Dec. 20. Katie Deal embodies the essence of Dolly Parton and her music during the holiday season, performing a collection that includes Dolly’s Christmas classics and beloved duets. Tickets are $40 for adults and $35 for seniors and students.
Mystic Bowie’s Talking Dreads (Reggae)
Mystic Bowie’s Talking Dreads re-imagines the Talking Heads’ classic songs with a vibrant mix of roots reggae, ska and lover’s rock in this Jan. 11 concert.
Since debuting in 2015, the Jamaican-born singer has energized audiences across North America, blending his musical heritage with the iconic band’s hits. Tickets are $30 for adults and $25 for seniors and students.
BEE GEES GOLD (DISCO, TRIBUTE)
Bee Gees Gold is a tribute band dedicated to honoring the iconic music of the Bee Gees. The band performs here Feb. 7 and will recreate the sound and energy of the group. Tickets are $60 for adults and $55 for seniors and students.
CELTIC ANGELS IRELAND (IRISH TRADITIONAL MUSIC, DANCE, CELTIC)
On March 20, hear Celtic Angels Ireland, a theatrical experience that transports audiences to the realms of Irish culture and music.
Led by an acclaimed creative team from Ireland, including award-winning singers, dancers and musicians, the show promises a mesmerizing blend of traditional and contemporary Irish tunes performed live by Trinity Ensemble, Heavenly Celtic Angels and Dynamic Celtic Knights Dancers. Tickets are $50 for adults and $45 for seniors and students.
THE MALPASS BROTHERS (HONKY-TONK, CLASSIC COUNTRY)
The season ends April 25 with The Malpass Brothers. Hailing from North Carolina, the brothers are celebrated for their authentic honky-tonk style and tight harmonies, evoking the classic country sound of icons like Merle Haggard and Hank Williams Sr. Tickets are $40 for adults and $35 for seniors and students.
