WILSON, N.C. (WNCT) — Wilson Police Chief Scott Biddle has announced his plans to retire following a long career in the law enforcement.

Chief Biddle joined the Wilson Police Department in 1992 and worked his way through the ranks until progressing to Chief in 2021. He worked on the Bicycle Team, Detective Division, Narcotics, Problem Oriented Response Team and as a member and team later of the Special Response Team. Biddle was also one of the founders of the Wilson Police Athletics League.

While doing this and many more things, he has offered advice and shown leadership to the Wilson community. Working with Wilson County Schools he helped create the Gentleman’s Agreement which became a successful mentorship program that paired community leaders with high-school aged men.

“I am thankful to so many for my career at the Wilson Police Department,” said Biddle. “First, I am grateful for the Lord’s blessings and guidance all these years. I also want to thank the city leadership, including City Manager Grant Goings, and the City Council members. I have been blessed with fantastic men and women in my department. I am grateful to my wife, Betty, my family and all those who mentored and supported me.”

His exact retirement date has not been set but is expected in the next few months.
