WILSON — Two cousins face attempted murder charges after police say gunshots were fired at a Wilson man from a car last week.
Daquon Horne, 23, of the 1000 block of Russell Street in Rocky Mount and Tyrek Kedrien Horne, 20, of the 100 block of Armstrong Drive in Sharpsburg are charged with one count each of attempted first-degree murder and discharging a firearm from an enclosure, according to a release from Sgt. Eric McInerny, public information officer with the Wilson Police Department.
McInerny said officers were called to the 1200 block of Toisnot Avenue after someone reported a suspicious person with a weapon at 1:53 p.m. Thursday.
“Officers arrived on scene and observed an individual, Malek Lewis Barnes, 25, of Wilson, standing outside a vehicle arguing with its occupants,” McInerny said. “As officers approached, two shots were fired from inside the vehicle toward Barnes. Officers began to give the driver commands as well as the other subjects on scene. Additional officers arrived on scene, and two subjects were taken into custody from inside the vehicle.”
No one was struck by gunfire.
Daquon Horne and Tyrek Horne were each placed in the Wilson County Detention Center without bond.
McInerny said the case is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Wilson Police Department at 252-399-2323 or Crime Stoppers at 252-243-2255.
