A North Carolina Little League game erupted into chaos Monday when a coach and an umpire brawled in front of the young players in an “embarrassing” moment.

The two grown men got into the fight in the middle of a game between two 12-and-under teams at a state championship tournament in Wilson, according to footage obtained by WRAL News.

The profanity-laden video — recorded at the top of the fifth inning — shows a coach from the Cherryville team and the home plate umpire arguing on the field before the coach gets into the ump’s face.

The umpire, identified by WRAL as Robby Beamon, can be heard telling the coach that he should be tossed from the game for using profanity.

Beamon walks back towards home plate but the coach follows behind and then shoves Beamon, according to the clip.

A second umpire runs over and tries to separate the pair as Beamon repeatedly swings his metal and foam mask at the coach, the footage shows.

Another Cherryville coach runs over and tries to stop the umpire’s swings before all three men walk back out of the camera angle.

“We have no tolerance for this type of behavior,” Wilson Parks and Recreation Director David Lee said in a statement to the stations. “There are a lot of people working hard to make sure our youth are having a positive experience and it’s just unfortunate and honestly embarrassing that two adults ruined that last night.”

The rest of the state tournament games continued as scheduled despite Monday’s dramatic interruption.
