Ump just throwing strikes himself. We've seen time and time again just how heated some people get over Little League baseball games. I mean, you'd think it was the World Series the way parents and coaches take these things so seriously. (Notice I didn't say players, because it seems like they're always the ones who understand that it's just a game and it's not that serious). And don't get me wrong, obviously youth sports are important and any team wants to do everything they can to win. But time and time again we see the adults who end up setting a terrible example for the kids they're supposed to be leading and letting their emotions get the better of them in the heat of battle. Like this Little League game in North Carolina. During a tournament game in Wilson, North Carolina between 12-and-under teams Bull City and Cherryville, an assistant coach for Cherryville angrily approached home plate to confront the umpire, who told him that he should be ejected for using profanity. The two make it to home plate as another umpire runs in, and the coach then gives a shove to the umpire, Robby Beamon. The ump then charges at the coach and begins swinging his facemask at him, delivering a few good blows with his mask as more Cherryville coaches jump in and the brawl moves out of frame. The umpire is then later seen on the ground and being restrained by coaches trying to break up the wild scene. Police were reportedly not called, and it doesn't sound like any charges are going to be filed. Speaking on the altercation, the Wilson Parks and Recreation Director David Lee said that it's a shame that adults ruined what was supposed to be a fun experience for children:
“We have no tolerance for this type of behavior. There are a lot of people working hard to make sure our youth are having a positive experience, and it’s just unfortunate and honestly embarrassing that two adults ruined that last night.” The Cherryville Little League Board of Directors said that they're still investigating the incident, but Beamon will reportedly be suspended for his involvement in the brawl. It's always gotta be the adults who make it about themselves and ruin it for the kids... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQrtx0zW9GE
