The Putnam baseball team secured an important Northwest Oregon Conference win on the road over Wilsonville on Wednesday, April 24, outlasting the Wildcats 7-4 at Wilsonville High School.

The top of the fifth inning proved to be the pivotal frame for the Kingsmen, as senior Jackson Fera, senior Shannon Pando and fellow senior Brooklynd Latta recorded RBIs as they swiftly turned a 3-1 deficit into a 5-3 lead.

Then, Wilsonville responded as junior Drew Hall recorded an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth to cut the lead to 5-4, but it ultimately proved to be too little, too late for the Wildcats.

Fera’s parabolic sixth-inning home run over the right-field fence ultimately extended the Kingsmen lead back to 7-4 before the senior took the mound himself and finished the job.

After leading 3-0 after three, Wilsonville scored just one run across the game’s final four innings as Putnam beat the Wildcats on the road for the first time since 2021.

Fera finished the game with three RBIs while sophomore right-hander Nolan Edwards picked up the win on the mound, allowing four runs across six innings.

With the win, the Kingsmen improved to 7-9 on the season and 5-3 in Northwest Oregon Conference play, while Wilsonville fell to 10-8 and 3-5.

The Wildcats and Kingsmen will wrap up their three-game series — currently tied at one game apiece — on Friday, April 26. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
