de la Motte and Matthews Named Wilsonville High School Athletes of the Week for May 1

de la Motte is a senior on the Wilsonville girls’ varsity track team, and Matthews is a senior on the softball team.

Bringing their best to their final season with the Wildcats, senior athletes Caroline de la Motte and Mary Matthews have been named Wilsonville High School’s Athletes of the Week for the week of May 1st.

A senior on the girls’ varsity track team competitng in the jumps, de la Motte is off to a dominant start this season, placing first seven times in the long jump and the triple jump. She recently placed fourth at the prestigious Oregon Relays with a long jump of 17’5”, and she triple-jumped a season personal best of 36’1” to win at the Wilsonville Invitational.

A senior team captain and centerfielder on the Wilsonville softball team, Matthews “had solo home run in the Wildcat’s game against La Salle,” her coach said. “In the same game, she also made double play catch and throw to Maddie Holly, catcher, who made the tag to not allow the baserunner to tag up and score.”
