Introverts, rejoice: This month you can support the Wilsonville Public Library by staying home.

According to the website, to participate in the “Stay at Home and Read” fundraiser people can spend time at home reading as opposed to having a night out at a restaurant or concert. Then, participants can donate the money that would have been spent on an outing to the library.

A “generous anonymous donor” will match each dollar donated, the website said.

Wilsonville Public Library Foundation President Bob Renfro said it is the foundation’s only fundraiser this year. This will be the library’s second time holding the fundraiser, with last year’s fundraiser raising $2,000, he said.

Renfro said the money raised will support programs outside the regular library budget, like Dolly Parton’s Imagination library and the Science in August program. Last year, through partnerships with organizations like Oregon Museum of Science and Industry and Oregon Coast Aquarium, Science in August featured programs like “Shark Shenanigans” and “Oregon Rocks!”

The library foundation hopes to double the amount made last year and raise $4,000 or $5,000, Renfro said.

The fundraiser will take place from May 16-19. Participants can donate and find more information on the Wilsonville Public Library Foundation’s website.
