Sidhu Twins Named Wilsonville High School Players of the Year, Athletes of the Week for June 12

Siblings Luke and Layla Sidhu are both varsity golfers for Wilsonville High School.

This week, the Wilsonville boys’ varsity golf and girls’ varsity golf coaches were asked to pick their players of the year. Two student athletes stood out most… and they just so happen to share a last name! Both recognized for their contributions to Wildcats golf over the past year, twins Luke and Layla Sidhu have been recognized as Players of the Year for the 2023-2024 season, as well as this week’s Athletes of the Week for the week of June 12.

Luke, a sophomore on the Wilsonville boys’ varsity golf team, was the team’s #2 player this year, and won the prestigious Outstanding Wildcat award for his character and commitment to the team. “Not only did Luke tie for second place in state, he also led the team most of the season in scoring,” his coach said. “What stood out even more was Luke’s leadership among his teammates. He led in a way that was inspiring to all us coaches.”

Layla, a sophomore on the girls’ varsity golf team, was the team’s #1 player this year, and was also named the Northwest Oregon Conference Player of the Year for the second year in a row. “Layla is just an absolutely amazing person. Whoever she meets is always treated with kindness and good will,” her coach said. “She is an incredibly fun young lady to be around and brightens people’s day!”
