A second candidate has announced a run for Wilsonville mayor.

Glenn Lancaster, a retired partner of Stephens, McCarthy, and Lancaster LLC, declared his candidacy in a news release Thursday, June 20. He joins Shawn O’Neil in the race to replace Mayor Julie Fitzgerald, who is unable to run again due to term limits.

“Among other things, Lancaster is committed to permanently stopping tolling in the area, fixing the chronically mismanaged traffic congestion, and stopping ‘Portland Creep,’ the expansion of homelessness, crime, and community decay,” the release stated. “Using a doctrine of ‘Slow-Smart Growth,’ Lancaster wants city government to manage the pace of growth to accommodate the region’s changing demographics while retaining the things that make Wilsonville such a wonderful place to live.”

The release described Lancaster as “a long-time resident with a history of local involvement” who has experience working in the private and nonprofit sectors. Stephens, McCarthy, and Lancaster LLC represents manufacturers in the utility industry. Lancaster also served as a director at the nonprofit Compassionate Hands International, according to the release.

He ran in the Republican primary for Oregon House District 26 in 2022 but lost to Jason Fields.

“As mayor, Lancaster plans to apply his experience in planning, negotiation, management and operations to the job,” the release stated. “Glenn’s platform is to improve Wilsonville’s quality of life, prioritize public safety, and build investment opportunities while, at the same time, reducing the cost and intrusiveness of government.”

Glenn and his wife, Anna, have been married for over 40 years and have two adult sons — a police officer and a United States Marine.

The filing period to run in the November election closes Aug. 20.
