The city of Wilsonville will soon begin construction to improve pedestrian accessibility and conduct other upgrades on segments of three roadways in town.

The work is taking place on Bailey Street (the segment east of Boones Ferry Road), Boones Ferry Road (between Wilsonville Road and Bailey Street) and Boberg Road (between Boeckman Road and Barber Street). The road improvements include repairing base materials, repaving surfaces and adding new striping; pedestrian improvements include a mid-block pedestrian crossing, upgrading 15 pedestrian ramps and adding 10 pedestrian signal push buttons.

The city hired Knife River Corporation-Northwest for construction, which is budgeted at around $3.4 million. As of Tuesday, June 25, it was not yet clear where or when the work would start, according to Wilsonville Communications and Marketing Manager Bill Evans.
