Wilsonville resident Anne Shevlin is one of four people running for a position on City Council this November, as of Thursday, July 25.

The terms of three council members will end this year, including Mayor Julie Fitzgerald, Council President Kristin Akervall and Councilor Joann Linville. Fitzgerald is ineligible to run for reelection due to term limits.

The filing deadline is Aug. 20.

City Recorder Kimberly Veliz said in an email that Shevlin’s signatures from Wilsonville residents were approved. Those running in the election are required to gather at least 20 signatures from registered Wilsonville voters after receiving pre-authorization from the city recorder’s office.

Shevlin is president of the Charbonneau Country Club board of directors, and previously worked as a RN hospital administrator and a director of nursing. She has a bachelor's degree in nursing from Southern Oregon University and a master’s in nursing administration from Walden University.

“I just want to work with the citizens to decide on the future,” Shevlin said, adding that she is interested in hearing “all sides, and all different opinions” of Wilsonville citizens.

According to Shevlin’s campaign website, she is concerned with affordable housing, safe pedestrian and biking paths, public transportation and areas for citizens to “gather and recreate.” The website also listed traffic issues, green spaces, and supporting small businesses as areas of focus. Further, Shevlin wants to remain involved in discussions on expanding the Aurora Airport and developing a plan to fund transportation infrastructure.

In the past Shevlin actively opposed using tolls to fund a project to replace the Boone Bridge across I-5.
