Wilsonville singers looking for a performing group may be interested in the I-5 Connection.

The chorus group is currently seeking new members, particiuarly those with a lower vocal range, according to Jim Stanger, president of the organization’s board of directors. Currently consisting of 15 members, the group sings popular songs from the 1930s through the 1950s at retirement homes in the Wilsonville area with the goal of bringing joy to those in the homes.

“We want to sing things that will bring a smile, a memory (to the people in the retirement homes),” Stager said.

Stager said those interested in joining should be able to “carry a part” in a vocal harmony, and it is beneficial to know how to read sheet music. The group primarily consists of older, retired people, but young people will not be turned away. Those who play an instrument or want to do a solo are generally able to do so, Stager said.

The group practices each Thursday between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. at the Wilsonville Community Center, and has regular performances in retirement homes. Those interested in joining can call 503-701-8375.
