For the first time in decades, someone other than Hayden Fry or Kirk Ferentz will be listed as the head coach of the Iowa Hawkeye football team. Yes, this anomaly will only last one week. Kirk Ferentz was suspended for the season opener against Illinois State for a recruiting violation. Sports Illustrated and others report that it involved starting quarterback Cade McNamara. But consider this. It will be the first time since 1978 that someone not named Fry or Ferentz will lead the Hawkeyes out of the tunnel at Kinnick Stadium.

DAVENPORT, Iowa — Argrow's House is continuing to grow! The nonprofit has announced that it bought a strip mall in Davenport. The space at 3811 Harrison St. has a restaurant that will now be a place where the women of Argrow's House can sell their bath and body products through a storefront, run a small cafe and pursue social innovation.
20 Cats Rescued From A Van During Extreme Heat In Mason City
(Des Moines, IA) -- Emergency responders rescued 29 cats trapped in a van under extreme heat conditions. The Animal Rescue League of Iowa, along with local police, discovered the cats without food, water, or proper ventilation. This low air led to dangerously high ammonia levels in the vehicle. Two cats were found with severe neck wounds and several others had raspatory and eye infections.
