KEILA, Estonia – Skidmore College men’s basketball alumnus Tautvydas Kupstas ’23 has signed a professional contract with Keila Coolbet in Europe. Severe Storms Claim One Life in Central New York
A community is mourning the loss of one of their own after the severe storms that ripped through Central New York claimed a life. One person was killed in Canastota from the storm on Tuesday, July, according to village administrator Jeremy Ryan, who said most of the damage was along Barlow Street where a mandatory evacuation was issued. Two members of the Union community are learning from a host of literary luminaries at this year’s New York State Summer Writers Institute. Ashley Dell’Oso ’24 and Mahir Mohammad Tazwar ’26 were awarded scholarships to attend the prestigious program, based at Skidmore College. The program is an offshoot of the New York State Writers Institute created by Pulitzer Prize-winning author William Kennedy, and features creative writing workshops, public readings, panel discussions, and student readings and gatherings.
End of an era: Former Phi Delta Theta House set to be demolished
The former Phi Delta Theta House, one of the most iconic buildings on campus, will be torn down after years of being plagued by structural and mechanical issues. Built in 1914 at a cost of $17,000, the house overlooking the 50-yard line at Frank Bailey Field has been largely vacant since 2012 after the chimney collapsed and the boiler malfunctioned.
