(WILX) - DeWitt high school senior Madi Uyl has spent countless hours in the weight room this summer rehabbing from an unfortunate torn ACL injury in the girls basketball regional semifinal game against Holt that ended her season.“I describe it kind of like a bad dream. I kind of thought I would wake up and I’d just go back to normal life and be healthy again, but I had a lot of my family there. It was definitely kind of like a bad dream,” said Uyl.It wasn’t the first time that it happened to Madi, either. A year earlier she tore the ACL in her other knee and had to go through the same process that she’s doing right now.“Adversity can make you mentally tougher, physically tougher, and more resilient, and I think the more resilient people are, the better they’re going to be,” said Uyl.Now Uyl is ready to get back to playing volleyball, basketball, and track and field for her senior year of high school.“Some days, the injury kind of gets in your head and kind of makes it hard to do things but coming here and like overcoming that and being able to show other girls that you can push through adversity is like really important.
