The Wimberley HS swim team traveled to San Antonio on January 19th for the District 14-4A Championship meet. This year WHS only fielded a girls team and competed against swimmers from Comal Davenport, La Grange, Comal Canyon Lake, and Hallettsville. Despite having no seniors on the team, the girls competed admirably, finishing second in the team standings and qualifying for regionals in seven individual slots and three relays. (Top-four finishers in each event at District qualify for regionals.)

Leading the way for the Texans was junior Cassidy Davis, who was a two-time state qualifier in 2023 as a sophomore. Davis repeated as District Champion in the 100 Yard Breaststroke, as well as the 200 Yard Individual Medley. She also swam legs on the regional-qualifying 200 Yard Medley Relay and the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay. Also qualifying for regionals in four events was freshman Gracie Colyer, who swam on all three qualifying relays, and finished second in the 200 Yard Freestyle. Sophomore Zorah Schwalb-Stang qualified in the 100 Yard Backstroke, the 500 Yard Freestyle, and the 400 Freestyle Relay. Also qualifying in three events was sophomore Brooklyn Bursiel, who was third in the 200 Yard Freestyle, and swam on two qualifying relays. In recognition of the team’s effort at District, head swim coach Jill Johnson was honored as the District 14-4A Girls Coach of the Meet. Coach Johnson is assisted by Mercedes Salinas.
