The opening reception for the 4th annual projectMENTOR exhibition will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at projectART, 111 River Rd. Suite 100. It will present the work of 14 area students alongside the work of their professional artist mentors. The exhibition will be on display Fridays from 4 to 7 p.m., Saturdays noon to 5 p.m. and Sundays 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. through May 26. “projectMENTOR, perhaps our most visible program, matches area students with professional artists for an entire semester of oneon- one instruction, the culmination of which is this exhibition,” said Bregan Ford, Director of Operations at projectART Wimberley.

“Over the course of these spring semester sessions, the young artists become the sole focus of their mentors, working together to explore new mediums, inspire new works, and create lifelong friendships. This program is 100% free to students and is made possible by the unbelievable support of their families, volunteer artists, and donors. The proceeds of this exhibition help fund the successive season and other projectART programming.”

Student artists include Niklaus Becker, Lennox Bisett, Boden Bland, Conner Carleton, Emmett Cole, Jack Dupler, Finch Etie, Gabel Gitterle, Olive Roberts, Veronica Rodriguez, Tristyn Savage, Graham Speer, Jack Speer and Cecilia Torrez.

Professional artists and mentors include Danny Cabading, Heather Carter, Brian Delano, Sam Elkins, Kat Gardner, Martha Gibson, Henry Gutierrez, Molly Hardwick, Lydia Johns, Jules Buck Jones, George Krause, Jim Miller, Eric Morales and Kim Springer Smith.
