The Wimberley Valley Arts and Cultural Alliance, Wimberleyarts. org, presented Robert Moreman Memorial Scholarship awards of $7,000 each to seven talented Wimberley graduating seniors, six from Wimberley High School and one from the Katherine Anne Porter School. The students were honored last Thursday and Friday at their respective scholarship ceremonies.

WimberleyArts.org founded the scholarship in 2021 in memory of Robert Duke Moreman, husband of the organization’s founder, Cathy Moreman. The awards are given to graduating seniors from the two Wimberley high schools, single gap-year grads or home-schooled grads who excel in and are preparing for careers in the arts: performing, literary, visual, culinary or, in honor of Robert’s profession, the building trades.

The Katherine Anne Porter School recipient was: Audrey Lucille Majors, performing arts. Accepted to University of Texas San Antonio.

Wimberley High School Recipients were: Emmett Cole, performing arts, music production. Accepted to Texas State University.

Adan Barcia, performing arts, acting. Accepted to Texas State University.

Ace Gonzalez, visual arts, multimedia, graphic design.

Accepted to University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and others.

Molly Massey, trade technical, welding. Accepted to Texas State University.

Nivea Perez, trade technical, welding, jewelry. Accepted to Texas State University.

Elliot Richards, performing art, music production. Accepted to Texas State University.

Committee chair, Denise Renter, of the “Stars Over Wimberley Benefit Concert Series,” said, “This reminds me of my favorite Margaret Mead quote. Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed individuals can change the world. In fact, it’s the only thing that ever has!”

The scholarships are the results of the efforts of the Wimberley Valley Arts and Cultural Alliance board and scholarship committee, generous donors, the Stars Over Wimberley Benefit Concert Series sponsors, ticket holders, volunteers, musicians and The Wimberley Players.
