Wimberley Music Festival scheduled for October

Barnabas Connection is marking a significant milestone later this year: its 20th anniversary.

To celebrate, the nonprofit organization is hosting a two-day music event in Wimberley on Oct. 12 and 13. Titled Wimberley Music Fest 2024, the event will be held at the Wimberley VFW Fairgrounds as a testament to the nonprofit’s journey. Headlining the Saturday Music Fest is Wimberley native and Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter Sarah Jarosz.

There will be six other musical acts that day, including Bri Bagwell, Soma Jerome, Susan Gibson, Dallas Burrow, Dylan James Riley and Reintarnation. The show goes from 2 to 9:30 p.m., and gates open at 1 p.m.

Sunday's lineup features many gospel acts: the Cypress Creek Worship Team, Wimberley Feng Shui, Dylan James Riley, Benji Uzo and the Hill Country Honey's. Closing the Sunday show will be Icy Monroe, performing with the United Methodist and Presbyterian Church Choirs. The show starts at 1 p.m. and ends at 6 p.m., and the gates open at noon.

Wimberley Music Fest is a major fundraiser for Barnabas Connection, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization serving the Wimberley Valley. The Barnabas Connection was started in 2004 from a Wimberley UMC Sunday School Class to connect families with critical needs. This experience was the genesis of creating a stand-alone, volunteer-based group that could serve the Wimberley Valley and those in need or crisis by navigating them to services or providing a hand-up.

'Over the last 20 years, Barnabas has evolved from just being companions in crisis to now becoming partners empowering community members with opportunities for growth and self-sufficiency,” said Executive Director Kate Sowell.

On Saturday, general admission tickets for all ages are $40. On Sunday, general admission tickets are $15, and children 12 and under are free. All net proceeds will go to fund Barnabas Connection’s work. Go to wimberleymusicfest. com for more details about Wimberley Music Fest 2024, Barnabas Connection or to buy tickets. Limited box seats and sponsorships are available.
