An unusually large crowd turned out for Wimberley’s July 4 parade. More than a 100 floats, cars, jeeps, trucks, golf carts and horse drawn carriages were part of the spectacle.

Organized by the Wimberley Chamber of Commerce, preparations began early at 7:30 a.m. in the Lions field and in Danforth Jr. high parking lot. Entries were judged and awards were presented to HEB for the best decorated float and Ace Hardware for the most patriotic float. The best decorated car award went to the Dripping Springs and Hays County Jeep Club. The winner of the best decorated truck went to Wimberley Towing. Shrive Ranch won the award for the best ATV or golf cart and Luna Environmental took home the prize for funniest entry.

While it did not win an award, Comfy Air treated spectators with blasts of cold air.
