On Friday night The Wimberley Texans (11-0) took on the Orange Grove Bulldogs (7-4) in Schertz Texas in a round two playoff match. University Camp will not be sold
Texas State University announced it will not sell University Camp—a 126acre oasis in Wimberley with over four miles of hiking and biking trails and views of the Blanco River that is available to university alumni, students and staff. The camp, which is located at the end of Flite Acres Road, is used by university students, alumni, faculty and staff for both recreational and educational purposes. It was originally donated to the university in the 1950s by Sallie Beretta. Hays County establishes housing stability program
The Hays County Commissioners Court voted Tuesday, Nov. 7, to approve a partnership with the Blanco River Regional Recovery Team, establishing a housing stability program for Hays County citizens. With Hays County American Rescue Plan Act contributions of $800,000 from Precinct 1, $150,000 from Precinct 2, $25,000 from Precinct 3 and $25,000 from Precinct 4, the grant funds totaling $1 million will be used for working capital and to mitigate and recover from the extraordinary expenses and revenue loss from shutdowns and other direct and indirect impacts of COVID-19. Civic Club puts on Sip, See and Shop style show
, , More than 150 fashionistas attended the Wimberley Civic Club’s Sip, See and Shop style show last week at the Community Center. The event was organized by Becky Selman, WCCC President, Melinda Miller, Karen Thormalen, and Nancy Robertson. Musical ambience was provided by Ken Strange, who emceed the event. Fifteen volunteers modeled fashions in four categories from area boutiques and vendors: Annie James, Cedar Chest, Felix T. Jacks Men’s Haberdashery, Gracious Ladies, Jeanne’s Fashions, My Happy Place, The River House, Texaholic, The Traveling Kind, Two P’s & Calli’s, Vintage Lily, Wall Street Western, Wildflower, The Love Your Space Place, The Med Spa and The Pepper Project. The style show was arranged and narrated by Trish Rigdon, chair of WCCC’s Donations Committee, and stylish refreshments were catered by Miss Red’s. “Thank you to everyone who came out and supported our Style Show Market. A special thanks to all the local vendors who provided fashion and exceptional shopping,” said WCCC President Becky Selman. This annual holiday event is bringing all things Christmas to the Wimberley Valley with something for everyone. TxDOT kicking off statewide plan
The Texas Department of Transportation is developing a comprehensive Statewide Active Transportation Plan to establish a unified vision for identifying and implementing strategic active transportation priorities across Texas through 2050 and is seeking input from the public. The plan will be Texas’ first comprehensive Statewide Active Transportation Plan and support the state’s Multimodal Transit Plan and Long-Range Transportation Plan. Central to this planning is taking an inventory of existing transportation networks and assessing key trends, safety measures and impacts on active transportation in Texas. The plan is envisioned to be a collaborative effort to advance the choice to walk, bike or roll as part of a fully integrated, safe, connected multimodal transportation system for all. The public is invited to learn about the SATP and share input online through a virtual public meeting available on txdot. gov. Comments must be received by Thursday, Nov. 30, to be included in the public meeting record. The recognition was announced on Nov. 4 at the Under One Sky Global Conference, webcast internationally from Tucson, AZ.
