State Funds on the Way for Sidewalk Extension
More than $700,000 in state funds are on the way thanks to a grant from the state Department of Transportation (DOT). In a July 19 press release, State Senator Christine Cohen (D12) announced that $739,765 would be heading to Guilford for a sidewalk improvement project that is expected to extend Boston Post Road sidewalks to the Madison town line. The extension will come as part of the town’s ongoing efforts to improve and extend sidewalks to improve walkability. In 2022, a project installed sidewalks along Route 77, connecting Adams Middle School to Hubbard Road and repairing a sidewalk section on Boston Street. In 2023, the town added sidewalks to connect Boston Street to Boston Post Road.
