Coffee County Central High School undergoing re-vamp over the summer
When school resumes at the start of the new school year, students will get a first-hand look at some new features at Coffee County Central High School. At the July 8, 2024 Coffee County School Board Meeting, Paul Parsley, Principal of Coffee County Central High School informed the Coffee County School Board about multiple refurbishment projects that are happening before school starts.
TVA: Highest Peak Power Demand Today

The Fate of the Green Bridge
The bridge that spans the Duck River in Old Stone Fort State Park is a popular photo backdrop and a uniquely Tennessee landmark. It was built by the Nashville Bridge Company 118 years ago, and is possibly the last such bridge still in existence. The state plans to remove and replace the bridge, citing safety concerns and millions of dollars in potential repair costs. A local preservation group has hired an independent analyst and has gotten repair estimates that are a fraction of the state’s numbers. They hope the bridge can be kept in place.

Daryl Blas assaults officer after telling them he planned to end his life
37-year-old Daryl Blas was reported as a suicidal individual at Senseney Dr at 1:17 a.m. on July 3rd. When officers arrived and spoke to Blas, he expressed that he was feeling suicidal and had a plan to end his life. The officers’ next course of action was to take Blas to the hospital for a mental evaluation. However, after a long conversation with Blas, he repeatedly stated that he was unwilling to go to the hospital. Officers attempted to put handcuffs on Blas, but he tensed up and pulled his arms away. After multiple attempts, officers took Blas to the ground and then handcuffed him. While Blas was being transported to a patrol car, he kneed an officer in the thigh and tried to do it again. Blas was then taken to booking, where he was charged with assault against a first responder and resisting arrest.
