The village of Windsor’s 2050 Comprehensive Plan update continues to take shape as the project’s steering committee and Foth Engineering assess current and future needs. At the upcoming Monday, Feb. 26, Plan Commission meeting, the public will have an opportunity to hear a presentation on some aspects of the update.

Monday’s presentation will cover findings for the transportation and economic development sections of the plan’s community design chapter. Some discussion topics include development of downtown, revitalization of the CTH CV/Lake Rd. corridor and traffic improvements.

The plan commission will also discuss stakeholders that they would like to open conversations with in the coming weeks. Some groups that could be contacted are farmers, the DeForest Area School District, developers and local business owners, according to Community Development Director Jamie Rybarczyk.

This marks a slight shift in focus for the project, which began in April, 2023. According to Rybarczyk, much of the work already done has dealt with updating the village’s demographic data and maps and facilitating community engagement.

For example, presentations in past months have covered topics such as public partnerships, economic development and resource protection.

Now, village leadership will begin to look into how the information they’ve gathered can be implemented to create guiding principles of development for Windsor’s future. Village staff are still fielding public input and encourage interested residents to be a part of the process as it hits a critical stage.

“In the next few months we will really be getting into policy discussion for three main areas: economic development, housing and land use,” Rybarcyzk said.

The village has been using ‘ mindmixer ‘, an online community engagement application, to field thoughts and ideas. In prior months, the village has distributed community surveys on the platform but anyone can continue to submit ideas or suggestions after signing up.

Residents are welcome to attend plan commission meetings to keep up with the project’s process or even share feedback and concerns. Additionally, 2050 Comprehensive Plan update resources such as maps, draft chapters, public survey data and previous presentations can be viewed in past Plan Commission Agendas on the village’s website .
