This is the story of a Napa Valley wine lover's hospitality dream, that has been almost 20 years in the making for Materra | Cunat Family Vineyards . In 2007, Proprietor Brian Cunat and his brother John purchased a special 50-acre property in the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley as an investment. The inspiration was set for Cunat to combine his deep love of wine and his lifelong dream of farming. Throughout the years the milestones have been achieved by planting a world-class vineyard, establishing a winery on property, and now they welcome a state-of-the-art 10,000 square foot hospitality center to showcase the beautiful wines produced from the vineyard.

Part of Materra's Japanese series, a lineup inspired by co-owner Miki Cunat’s family roots and homeland cuisine, Materra’s 2023 Yamabuki Albariño pays homage to the official flower of Kawakami, Japan. In hue and floral character, it’s reminiscent of the wild river rose, a welcoming symbol to weary mountain travelers. This balanced and refreshing wine is a fantastic complement to fresh seafood dishes with a hint of spice, like paella and poke bowls, or sushi. Miki's great grandfather, Shozaburo Dogura was a very successful entrepreneur and an early conservationist, who developed a method of managed forestry for Japanese cedar. His discovery was marked by high density planting of cedar trees, resulting in a forest of trees that grew tall and straight. The wood resulted in a tight grain, the use of which was especially prized for use in sake barrels.

Bringing People Together has been Materra’s slogan since the Cunat Family founded the winery, and our new hospitality space is the ideal location to do just that. This impressive building gives us an amazing opportunity to offer an exceptional range of experiences. The aesthetics will be captivating and welcoming, from the thoughtfully curated design to the soaring ceilings and panoramic views .” - Kevin Krueger, DTC Manager at Materra | Cunat Family Vineyards
