WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — An aircraft with a final destination of Fort Worth, Texas, was blown off the runway at Strother Field on Friday.

The Kansas Highway Patrol said the pilot took off from Stol Creek Aviation in Whitewater. Following a three-point landing at Strother Field Airport in Winfield, a gust of wind caused the aircraft to lose control.

The pilot was unable to correct the aircraft and it came to rest on the grass embankment east of the taxiway.

The KHP said the aircraft — a 2004 KitFox Series 7 — sustained major damage to the propellor and the left wing.

The pilot was a 60-year-old man from Fort Worth. He did not sustain any injuries.
